Tips & Tipping
Italy
Tipping summary
Tipping is not expected but appreciated. A "coperto" (cover charge) is usually included in restaurant bills. Leaving a euro or two for good service is a kind gesture.
Cards vs. Cash
Cards are widely accepted in cities and tourist areas. Smaller trattorias, gelaterias, and rural businesses may prefer cash. Carry some euros for markets, small cafés, and daily purchases.
